When caring for teeth, it is important to remember that it’s simply not that complicated on a daily basis. Here are some things to remember as you get back to basics.

Brush: Brushing your teeth is very important for your overall oral hygiene. Brush for two minutes, twice a day. Don’t skip days! Keeping a steady habit will help prevent cavities and other oral emergencies. Use gentle pressure when you brush so as not to irritate the gums or damage the enamel of your teeth. Your toothbrush should be clean, stored upright in an open space, and not more than 3-4 months old.

Floss: Clean between your teeth everyday. You can use an 18-inch piece of conventional floss wrapped around two fingers, or choose another method. If conventional flossing is difficult, try another interdental cleaner, such as a water flosser, pre-strung flosser, floss for sensitive teeth, or a dental pick created specifically for that purpose. Eat Well: A nutritious diet is good for more than just your teeth–but it IS important for your teeth! Make sure to eat lots of nutrient-dense foods, such as dark leafy greens, dairy products, fruits, veggies, and lean protein. These are filled with calcium, protein, phosphorous, and other vitamins and minerals that promote tooth strength.
